The US Open is a tennis tournament held at Flushing Meadows in New York, USA. It started in 1881 as an exclusive men’s singles and doubles tournament in Newport before moving to New York and expanding to a “two-week sports and entertainment extravaganza” according to the ATP website.
In the ATP, Jimmy Connors, Pete Sampras and Roger Federer have won the most singles titles in the Open Era. In the WTA, Chris Evert and Serena Williams have won the most with 6. For wheelchair competitors, Shingo Kunieda has won 8 titles which is the most of anyone in singles.
