Big up Frances Tiafoe for his emphatic win against Rafael Nadal in the US Open

I’ll be real with you all: since Serena lost in the third round against Ana Tomljanović, I stopped watching the US Open. The time difference was kicking my ass when I was already tired and Serena/Venus were worth staying up for until they bowed out. So I had no idea what was happening in the rest of the tournament, on the men’s or women’s side. But Black Spin Global is always on it and dropped this bombshell on my Instagram feed:

Big Foe, who said he played “scary tennis” during the 3hr 34min battle, faces ninth seed Andrey Rublev next.⁣

It’s pretty huge to beat a 4-time champion of any tournament but with it being Rafa Nadal and in four sets rather than five (6-4 4-6 6-4 6-3) is monumental and easily Tiafoe’s biggest career win. Tiafoe’s next challenge is Andrey Rublev in the quarter’s and he has a great chance of going further.
