Here’s the first ever Yurchenko double pike at the Olympics, a phenomenal contribution to Team USA’s gold medal in the Women’s Artistic Team All-Around. And if you don’t know what a Yurchenko double pike is, here’s a description:
The move consists of two flips in the pike position where the legs are extended straight and the body is folded forward at the waist.
Many thought it was too dangerous to attempt at the Olympics in Tokyo but Simone didn’t go in the end, so 4 years later and we’re here and if anyone could do it, it’d be Simone Biles and only Simone Biles.
