Simone Biles wins a record-breaking 21st world championship gold medal

Simone Biles continued her phenomenal streak at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, by adding a 21st gold medal to her collection.

The 26-year-old secured her win in the women’s individual all-around final in Antwerp, Belgium yesterday with a total score of 58.399, ahead of Rebeca Andrade’s 56.766 and US teammate Shilese Jones with 56.332.

It’s Biles’s sixth all-around title at the World Championships, and she is now the most decorated gymnast in history—male or female.

“I was emotional because it was my first worlds here 10 years ago and now my sixth one, so it is crazy, but I swear I do have something in my eye that’s been bothering me for like four hours and I cannot get it out,” Biles told reporters. “So while I was looking up there, it was like a combination of both.”
