Last night, Georgia beat Portugal 2–0 in a historic victory at Euro 2024. Not only was it their first win against Portugal (their last meeting in 2008 was a 2–0 defeat for Georgia), it meant that they qualified for the knock-out stage for the first time.
A reminder that Georgia’s national team is actually younger than me (their first match was in 1990), they’re currently ranked 74th in the world, and this is their first major tournament. Congratulations to them and let’s see how they do against Spain in the last 16.
