While I wait impatiently for his return, I’ve been watching old Federer videos and found this one from 2014 at the Canadian Open (or National Bank Open/Canada Masters/Rogers Cup depending on how old you are). I must admit I didn’t know about this one (the guy has 1,526 tour matches to his name after all) and after watching, it epitomised what makes him my fave—including the failed match points, but the less said about those the better.
Čilić would get his revenge in Flushing Meadows when he beat Federer 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in the US Open semi-final and go onto win the title.
