Whew. This has been tough to write. Roger Federer announced his retirement via social media on 15th September with his final professional match played with Rafa Nadal in the Laver Cup against Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock in the doubles. The pair lost in 3 sets (including a final tiebreak).
The reason this was so hard to write is because I didn’t know how to put all my feelings into words, not just from the last few days but the last 21 years. So this post won’t cover all of that and I don’t know when I’ll write that kind of piece. But I didn’t not want to acknowledge his retirement (seeing as I acknowledged Serena’s) so here we are.
