Efren Reyes and the Z-shot that shocked the pool world

Efren Reyes is a Filipino professional pool player and often regarded as one of the greatest pool players of all time. In 1995, Reyes played Earl Strickland in the Sands Regency Open. The score was 12-12 in the Race-to-13 final and Reyes was in trouble; he was snookered and needed to reach the 7-ball which was on the top cushion. His solution was to play what is now known as the Z-shot—bouncing the ball off the left and right cushions before gently touching the 7-ball in a zig-zag shape—and he potted it before going onto win the match. Strickland conceded, Reyes won, and the world of pool was stunned.
