Tony Yeboah and his 32 goals for Leeds United

Tony Yeboah was born in Kumasi, Ghana, on 6th June 1966 and after some time playing youth football in his home country, he travelled to Germany to join 1. FC Saarbrücken. After 2 years and 31 goals in 72 games, he joined Eintracht Frankfurt where he also made a name for himself, scoring 89 goals in games.

But he is best known—in the UK at least—for his time at Leeds United from 1994–1997. He only scored 32 goals for the club, but that came in 66 games and 2 of them were some of the greatest ever scored in the Premier League. If you’re a fan, you know the ones.

The above video shows Yeboah’s immense ability to score from anywhere with amazing strength and technique. And if you don’t know what those two goals are, they came against Liverpool and Wimbledon. I get goosebumps when I watch the goal vs. Liverpool and I’ve written about Yeboah’s influence on me as a child so watching these goals was a dream.
