Populous, the architects behind Yankee Stadium and the London Olympic Stadium, have won the bid to design Tigres UANL’s new stadium in Nuevo León, Mexico. The stadium will seat 65,000 spectators and won’t require the club to relocate as it will be built near their current stadium.
Some key features include:
- A retractable pitch to allow for other kinds of events
- Integration of retail units, hospitality and hotel accomodation, offices, and student learning facilities
- Changing facilities for both the men’s and women’s team, meaning both clubs can share the stadium
The new stadium is set to open in 2025.
