When Inter faced Juventus on 9th March 2002, they were in 2nd place and fighting for the title. Juventus were right behind in 3rd. The match ended in a 2-2 draw and the two Nerazzurri goals came from the boots of Clarence Seedorf. But they weren’t just any old goals—these were screamers. The first came on the 6th minute from outside the box with a left-footed lash that Buffon could do nothing about. Seedorf continued to boss the match and 3 minutes into injury time, with Inter down 2-1, he did it again but with his right foot this time and from a great distance.
Inter spent another week in 2nd place before sitting at the top of Serie A for six weeks. However, leading the table on the final day of the season, they lost to 4-2 to Lazio and finished 3rd behind Juventus and Roma.
