A brief appreciation of Jana Novotná at Wimbledon

I wrote this on Twitter but thought I’d put it somewhere more permanent:

At Wimbledon from 1993–1999, in both singles and doubles, Jana Novotná reached at least:

• The quarter-finals 10 times
• The semi-finals 9 times
• The final 7 times
• And won 3 titles (1 singles, 2 doubles)

And in her doubles career alone at Wimbledon, from 1989–1999, she reached:

• 8 finals
• 4 titles
• 1 semi-final
• 2 quarter-finals

What a run on grass. RIP Jana.
