Spain defeated England 2–1 to win their fourth European Championships and become the first nation to win it 4 times. They’re also now the current World Cup and European champions in women’s and men’s football, respectively.
Kiko Williams opened the scoring 2 mins after half time and it looked to stay that way until Cole Palmer came off the bench to score a 73rd minute equaliser. With the match all square and increasingly cagey, it was Mikel Oyarzabal who scored the winner and crushed England fans’ hopes of ending those 58 years of hurt.
Spain were the deserved winners, both in the match and the tournament with 7 wins out of 7. For England, it’s a second final and a second defeat but despite a poor start, they overcame their odds and themselves to get there.
