Arsene Wenger Makes It Seven, But Here's His First FA Cup Win

While Arsenal may have finished outside the top 4 for the first time in 20 years, he does have 7 FA Cup trophies, 3 league titles, and two European finals to his name. He also brought the likes of Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry, and Nwankwo Kanu to the Premier League. I can’t think of another manager with those kinds of credentials. The Frenchman celebrated his 7th and Arsenal’s 13th FA Cup victory today with an entertaining 2-1 victory over new Premier League champions Chelsea.

Rather than show you dodgy highlights from the game, we’ve decided to show you highlights from the first final he won back in 1998. Much like Chelsea, the Gunners were seeking their first double under Wenger and their first since 1970/71. Their opponents were Newcastle United, who had promised much in past seasons but fell at the final hurdle. Manager Kenny Dalglish was looking for a second piece of career silverware in 3 years, after winning the league title with Blackburn in 1995.
